Estwin Oval Bulkhead Wall Light

Estwin takes the shape of a ship bulkhead lamp and keeps it plain. A cast metal body holds a ribbed prismatic glass lens, and a half shield sits over the top so the light is pushed down the wall rather than out into the garden. The silver finish is left raw enough to show the grain of the casting, which is why it suits brick, render, timber and concrete equally well.

The fitting measures 21.3 cm across and 10.7 cm tall, and stands 10 cm off the wall, small enough for a narrow passage or a doorway reveal. It is rated IP65, which means it is sealed against rain and wind driven water. One warm white LED bulb is supplied, and the lampholder takes a screw fitting rated to 10 W, so replacements are easy to find later on.

Outdoors it suits an exposed porch, a fence post, a balcony wall or the area beside a back door, where the downward throw keeps light on the ground rather than in the eye. The same fitting works indoors on a kitchen, utility or bathroom wall where a rugged look is wanted. Installation is hardwired and should be made by a qualified electrician, with the fixing sealed against the wall.
