Face Line Iron Wall Art

A face drawn in one continuous line and then cut from iron, so what hangs on the wall is the line itself with the wall showing through everywhere else. Finished in flat black and only about eight millimetres thick, it sits almost against the plaster and throws a thin shadow beside itself, which changes through the day as the light in the room moves around.

Three sizes are offered. The smallest is forty by fourteen centimetres and suits a narrow space beside a door or above a light switch; the middle is fifty by eighteen; the largest is fifty-five by twenty and works best on a broad empty wall or centred above a low sideboard. All three are the same design at the same weight of line, so two can be hung together at different sizes.

The piece is made by a mix of machine cutting and hand finishing, which means the line is even but the edges and the black finish vary very slightly from one to the next. It arrives as a single piece with no glass and no frame, and it is light for its size. Dust it with a dry, soft brush rather than a cloth, which can catch on the cut edges.
