The bowl of this glass is cut into shallow facets that catch the light along their edges, so a pale wine picks up a faint sparkle around the rim without the heaviness of pressed crystal. The whole glass carries a bright lime tint, strongest where the stem meets the foot and thinning towards the rim. It is a glass that makes a plain table look considered with very little effort.
It is made from borosilicate, the same family of glass used for laboratory ware and stovetop teapots, which is why the walls can be drawn this thin without feeling fragile in the hand. The glass stands 20.4 centimetres tall on a 7.6 centimetre foot and holds 280 millilitres to the brim, a generous single serving with room left to swirl. Each one weighs 320 grams.
Hand wash only, in warm water with a soft cloth, and let it drain upside down on a towel rather than propping it in a crowded rack where the rim can knock. Dishwasher salts will etch the tint over time. Thin borosilicate is strong against heat but it will still break if it meets a stone worktop, so set it down deliberately and sweep up any breakage with care.
