Fauna Animal Print Shag Rug

The Fauna lays down a deep, softly mottled animal print in cream, oatmeal and dark chocolate. The marking is dense and irregular rather than graphic: small, soft-edged brown shapes scattered across a pale ground, with individual fibres shading from cream through to deep brown so the surface shifts quietly as the light moves across it. It reads as texture first and pattern second, which keeps it calm in a room rather than loud.

The pile is long and openly tufted, a genuine shag rather than a short plush, standing up from the backing in loose clusters that part underfoot and settle again. It is made from 100% polyester with a flocked fibre finish, which is what gives the yarn its fine, brushed quality and the two-tone depth across each tuft. Underneath, the rug is built on an ethylene vinyl acetate backing.

Every edge is closed with an overlocked binding tape, which stops the shag shedding at the perimeter. It suits a living room, bedroom or a dressing area, and works best where it is walked on in bare feet rather than under a dining table. Vacuum on a low setting without a beater bar, shake it out rather than scrubbing it, and blot spills quickly so they do not settle into the long pile.
