Finn Woven Bamboo Pendant Light

Bamboo and rattan woven by hand into a shallow dome roughly 30cm across and 10cm deep, hung on a 100cm cord. The weave is open enough that the light passes through the shade as well as down from it, so the fitting reads as a warm, patterned shape overhead rather than a solid block. Each shade is worked by hand, so no two are quite identical.

It suits a spot where you want texture without weight: over a kitchen island, above a small dining table, in a stairwell, or hung low beside a bed in place of a lamp. The natural finish keeps the grain of the cane visible, while the black and white versions read more graphically and hold their own against bolder wall colours. Group two or three along a run for a longer table.

The fitting takes a standard E27 bulb, which is not included, and runs on 90-260V. A warm-toned LED bulb suits the material best and keeps the shade cool. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician: isolate the circuit at the consumer unit first, and check for pipes and cables before drilling into the ceiling. Use a fixing rated for the weight of the fitting, and dust the weave occasionally with a soft brush.
