Floating Spaceship Levitating LED Lamp

A small spaceship, moulded in white ABS with metal detailing, that hangs unsupported in the air above its base and turns slowly as it goes. The trick is magnetic levitation: opposing fields in the base and the craft hold it steady with a visible gap underneath, and a light in the base washes up over the hull. Together the whole thing weighs about 680g.

It takes a little patience to set up the first time, easing the craft into the point where the fields balance, and then it simply stays there. What makes it more than a novelty is that it is genuinely good ambient light: a soft, adjustable glow that suits a desk, a shelf, a study or a bedside without being bright enough to keep anyone awake.

Supplied with the levitating module, the magnetic base, a power adapter and lead, and a short guide. Keep it clear of credit cards, watches, hard drives and anything else that dislikes a strong magnetic field, and keep it away from anyone with an implanted medical device. This is a decorative object, not a toy, so keep it out of reach of small children. Use a UK-approved mains adapter if the supplied plug is not a UK three-pin type.
