Folding Touch-Control LED Desk Lamp

A desk lamp built around a flat LED panel rather than a bulb, which is what keeps the light even and free of the hard shadow a point source throws across a page. The arm folds through 230 degrees and the base turns 90 degrees, so the head can be dropped low over a keyboard, angled up at a shelf, or folded flat when the desk is needed for something else. Overall footprint stays modest at roughly 38cm by 11cm.

Touch control runs the whole lamp: a tap cycles brightness through five levels, from a dim night setting to full working light, with five further modes for softer ambient use. The tone is warm rather than clinical, which makes it easier on the eyes over a long evening. It runs from USB, so it will take power from a laptop, a power bank or a mains adapter.

Folded, it lies almost flat and slides into a drawer or a bag, which makes it a practical second lamp for a spare room or a rented desk. Use a UK-approved USB mains adapter, not supplied, if you are running it from a wall socket. The matt finish resists fingerprints better than the gloss plastic these lamps usually arrive in.
