Geometric Ceramic Mug, Gold Handle

A white ceramic mug painted by hand with a geometric pattern and finished with a gold handle. The painting is done individually, so no two are quite identical and the lines have the slight waver of a brush rather than the dead regularity of a printed transfer. Eight designs are offered, running from fine linear triangles through dotted stripes to a bolder tile motif, in black, red and blue against the white body.

Capacity is 330ml, which is a proper mug of coffee or tea rather than a token cup, and the body is thick-walled white ceramic that holds heat well. The gold handle is the detail that makes the thing: it is a single clean arc of colour against the pattern, and it lifts a mug that would otherwise be merely graphic into something you would put out for guests. The designs are strong enough to mix, so a shelf of four different patterns looks intentional.

One thing to know before buying: because of the gold handle these mugs must not go in a microwave. Metallic finishes arc and will be damaged. Hand washing is recommended for the same reason, as dishwasher detergent will gradually dull the gold. Handled that way they keep their finish for years.
