Glass Block Table Lamp

A solid block of hand-crafted glass sits on a slim fabric cord, catching daylight by day and glowing softly once the bulb is lit. The casting is deliberately imperfect, so each piece carries its own ripples, bubbles and soft internal shadows. Set on a bedside table it reads as a small sculpture rather than a lamp, and the low profile means it never crowds a book, a glass of water or an alarm clock on a narrow surface.

The fitting takes a compact G9 capsule bulb rated up to seven watts, which is enough for a pool of reading light without washing out the glass. Choose the black cord for a graphic, slightly industrial line against pale walls, or the white cord when you want the flex to disappear into the background. Both versions use the same block, so the decision is purely about how visible you want the cable to be.

Because the glass is cast rather than moulded, the surface picks up fingerprints less readily than polished crystal and cleans with a dry microfibre cloth. Keep the lamp on a level surface away from the edge of a table, and let the bulb cool before changing it. The block has real weight for its size, so it stays put without a heavy base and suits a shelf, a desk or a hallway console equally well.
