Glass Coffee Cup with Cork Sleeve and Lid

Most reusable cups are opaque, which is a shame if you have gone to the trouble of making something that looks good. This one is clear glass, so a flat white keeps its layers and a pot of tea keeps its colour. A band of cork wraps the middle, which is what makes it holdable when the contents are hot, and a food-grade lid with a drinking opening sits on top. A straw will pass through the same opening.

Two capacities are offered, 227 millilitres for a short drink and 340 for a long one, each in black, grey or blue cork and lid. The glass and lid are dishwasher safe and the glass is microwave safe once the lid is removed, so reheating is straightforward. It will hold its temperature for roughly twenty to thirty minutes, which is honest rather than impressive: this is a cup, not a vacuum flask, and it is not sold as one.

Check the rim and base for chips before every use and stop using the cup if you find any, because a flaw in glass can fail without warning once hot liquid goes in. The lid is not airtight, so do not shake, invert or carry it on its side, and do not assume it will stay put in a bag. Let the cork sleeve dry rather than soaking it. Keep it back from a worktop edge where a child could reach it.
