Glass Trough Plant Wall Light 22cm

A wall light with a glass trough built into it, so a cutting or a trailing stem can sit in water directly under the LED. It is a genuinely useful piece of furniture rather than a novelty: the light sits above the glass and washes down over whatever is growing in it, and the plant in turn breaks up the beam so the fitting throws dappled shadow onto the wall instead of a flat rectangle of light.

The frame is 22 centimetres square in iron and aluminium, with the glass vessel held in an aperture at the front where it can be lifted out for cleaning and refilling. Pothos, tradescantia and philodendron cuttings all do well in it; anything that needs free-draining compost does not. White suits a pale wall and keeps the plant as the subject; black frames it more firmly and works better against brick, wood or a strong colour.

Warm white at 2700-3500K is the right choice for a living room or a bedroom. Cool white at 5500-7000K is brighter and closer to daylight, which suits a kitchen or a workroom and does more for the plant. The fitting runs on AC 85-265V and is hardwired, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated. Keep water away from the electrical housing when topping up, and do not fit in bathroom zones 0, 1 or 2.
