Grindo Black Metal Tube Flush Ceiling Light

The Grindo takes the look of an old factory fitting and compresses it into a shallow square that sits close to the ceiling. Four long tubular filament lamps run in parallel across a flat black backplate, each held in a cast socket with a slim wire guard, and the whole assembly stands only 10cm proud. That keeps it usable in rooms with limited head height where a pendant would sit in the way.

With four lamps working together the fixture reads as a bank of warm horizontal lines rather than a single point of light. The body and shade are metal throughout in a black finish, and the fitting is rated IP20 for indoor use. Bulbs are not included, so the filament style can be chosen to taste, and the exposed sockets and guards mean the lamps are part of the look rather than hidden.

It suits a living room, a bedroom or a small dining area of roughly five to ten square metres, and it works particularly well in spaces with exposed brick, concrete, dark timber or a loft conversion feel. It is a hardwired fitting and needs assembly on installation, so a qualified electrician should do the work. Exposed lamps and guards gather dust, so a dry brush over the backplate every so often keeps it sharp.
