Hand-Blown Glass Table Lamp 47cm

At 47cm tall with a 28cm shade this is a proper table lamp rather than a bedside one, sized for a sideboard, a hall console or the end of a long table. The shade is hand blown, so the glass thickness varies a little and the surface carries faint tooling marks; those are the reason it looks different from a moulded shade when the light is on. Because the shade is glass rather than fabric, light leaves it in every direction, so the lamp lifts a whole corner rather than just the surface it stands on.

Two shade colours and two base finishes give four combinations. Gold glass on a gold base is the warmest and most traditional; white glass on silver is the coolest and quietest. The two mixed pairings sit in between and tend to work best in rooms that already have both metals in the ironmongery or the light fittings.

It takes an E27 bulb and a warm white 3000K LED is supplied, so it is ready to use. The base is plated iron and heavy enough to sit steadily on a polished surface without sliding. Glass shades collect dust faster than fabric ones, so wipe it with a dry microfibre cloth every few weeks with the lamp switched off and cold.
