Hanging Iron Plant Pot Holder

A slim iron frame holds the pot inside it rather than underneath, so the planter reads as a drawn outline with a plant sitting in the middle of it. Two shapes are offered. The round frame is 34 centimetres across and suits a trailing plant that will spill through the opening; the tall rectangular frame is 52 centimetres high and flatters something upright with a bit of architecture to it.

Everything needed is in the box: the frame, a ceramic-look pot, the hanging chain and a ceiling hook. The round version takes a 14 centimetre pot on a 31 centimetre chain and weighs 540 grams; the rectangular version takes a 15 centimetre pot on a 48 centimetre chain and weighs 660 grams. Three pastel finishes are available, in white, pink and pale green.

Fix the hook into a joist or use a fixing rated well above the loaded weight, remembering that wet compost can double what the empty planter weighs. Hang it clear of head height and away from doorways and walkways. Check the hook and the chain links twice a year. Wipe the frame with a dry cloth; leaving it damp will eventually mark the paint on an iron frame.
