Heritage Yarn Dyed Cotton Pillowcases

Yarn-dyed fabric is coloured before it is woven rather than printed afterwards, which is why these pillowcases look the same on both sides and why the pattern will not fade off the surface with washing. It is the older and more expensive way to make patterned cotton, and it is immediately obvious in the hand: the design has depth rather than sitting on top of the cloth.

Three patterns are offered, all drawn from traditional decorative textiles. Phoenix Grace is the most ornate, built around a stylised bird motif. Floral Elegance is the softest and easiest to place, a repeating flower pattern that works against plain white or cream bedding. Paisley Charm is the most classic of the three and pairs well with darker wood furniture and heavier curtains.

The cloth is pure cotton, not a blend, so it breathes in summer and takes a proper press if you like ironed bedlinen. Each case measures 51 x 75cm, generous enough for a standard UK pillow with a little room. They are supplied as a pair. Machine wash in cold water to keep the yarn colours at their strongest, and avoid bleach entirely, which will strip the dye unevenly. Line drying will preserve the weave better than a hot tumble dry.
