Horizon Ultra-Thin Ceiling Light

Five centimetres is about as thin as a ceiling light gets before it becomes a recessed downlight. The Horizon is essentially a lit disc with a narrow natural wood ring around its edge, and that single warm detail is what keeps it from looking like an office panel. From below you see the wood band and an even field of light with no visible diodes or hotspots.

Two diameters are offered here. The 30cm is the everyday size for a bedroom, a landing, a home office or a hallway. The 40cm suits a larger bedroom or a kitchen where it is doing most of the work. Body finishes are black, white and grey, all of which sit quietly against a plain ceiling once the fitting is up. If the room is a square of four metres a side or less, the 30cm will light it comfortably on its own.

You can have it in fixed warm white at around 3000K, or a three-colour version that steps between warm, neutral and cool each time the wall switch is cycled. The LED is integrated and supplied, and the whole thing surface-mounts to an existing ceiling point. It is rated for dry rooms, so it belongs on a landing or in a bedroom rather than over a shower.
