Houndstooth Plush Sofa Cover

Houndstooth is one of the few patterns that reads as classic rather than trend-led, which makes it a safe choice for something as large as a sofa cover. Woven here into a thick plush microfibre, the pattern sits in tonal rather than high-contrast pairs, so it gives the surface interest and depth without dominating the room the way a black and white version would.

The backing is the detail that separates this from most covers on the market. It carries an anti-slip finish, so the cover stays where it is put rather than migrating towards the floor every time someone stands up - which is the single most common complaint about sofa covers and the reason so many end up in a cupboard. Six colours are available, from beige and taupe through to green and two greys.

The plush face is genuinely warm, so it comes into its own from October onwards, and the microfibre resists staining and releases pet hair far more willingly than a woven cotton does. Four sizes are offered. Machine wash it rather than the sofa, which is the whole point. Wash cold on a gentle cycle and air dry or tumble dry low; high heat will flatten the pile permanently.
