IP65 Outdoor Porch Ceiling Light

Covered outdoor spaces are awkward to light. A bulkhead looks industrial, a lantern looks fussy, and most indoor fittings will not survive a winter. This is a plain round drum in carbonised black steel, rated IP65 so it shrugs off driving rain, and shallow enough to sit close to a porch ceiling or a carport soffit without anyone walking into it. The drum shape also means rain running off a soffit edge drips clear of the glass rather than down the face of it, which keeps the fitting looking clean for longer.

Three diameters are offered. The 24cm is 19cm deep and suits a small porch or a back door. The 29cm at 21cm deep covers a wider entrance or a covered side passage. The 34cm at 25cm deep is the one for a veranda, a garden room overhang or a generous patio roof, where a smaller fitting would look lost against the span of the ceiling.

It takes an E27 screw-fit bulb and one LED bulb is supplied, so you can change the colour temperature later to suit: something warm for a front porch, something brighter for a working area or a side passage. Each fitting lights roughly three to five square metres. The switch is a simple on-off rather than a dimmer, and the steel body is powder coated for weather resistance.
