IP65 Outdoor Wall Light 10-41cm

A linear outdoor wall light in aluminium, rated IP65 against dust and water jets, offered in three lengths so it can be scaled to the wall it goes on. The smallest is 10 by 5cm, a marker light for either side of a door. The middle at 20 by 7cm suits a garden wall or a garage. The largest, 41 by 7cm, is a genuine architectural strip that washes a broad expanse of render or brick.

Each length carries a different wattage, 2W, 6W and 18W respectively, so the output rises with the size rather than a small fitting being pushed too hard. White and black bodies are available, and each can be had in warm white or cool white. On a rendered wall the white body disappears in daylight; on brick or dark cladding the black is the better choice. The beam is a soft vertical wash, not a spotlight.

The input range is 85 to 265V, so it runs on UK mains directly. Aluminium is the material that matters here: an outdoor fitting lives through freeze and thaw, and an aluminium extrusion sheds heat from the LED while resisting the corrosion that swells steel fixings until they split their plugs. This is hardwired, so it must be installed on a circuit by an electrician rather than run from a socket.
