IP65 Sensor Wall Light 8.5cm

A small aluminium wall light rated IP65, which means it is sealed against dust and against water jetted from any direction, so it can go outside on a porch, a path or a garden wall as readily as it can go indoors in a hallway. At 8.5cm it is deliberately discreet: the light it throws is a soft wash up and down the wall rather than a broad flood, which is what you want marking a route rather than lighting a scene.

Four body styles are offered, round or square in black or white, and each comes in warm white at 3000K or cool white at 6000K. Warm white suits a house wall and a front door; cool white reads as more functional and works better on a side passage or a set of steps. A motion sensor version is available, which brings the light on as someone approaches and then switches it off again, so it is not burning through the night.

Power draw is 3W from an integrated LED, covering roughly one to three square metres, and it accepts a wide 90 to 260V input so it runs on UK mains without an adapter. The housing is aluminium rather than painted plastic, which is why it will survive several British winters without the fixing points corroding. It is a hardwired fitting, not a plug-in one, so it needs to be installed on a circuit.
