Japanese Cylinder Wood and Fabric Table Lamp

A cylinder table lamp built on the quiet proportions of traditional Japanese interiors, where a lamp softens a room rather than commands it. The base is turned from solid wood and finished so the grain still reads, and above it sits a plain fabric shade that spreads light evenly instead of dropping it in one hard pool. Because the shade is a textile, pair it with a cool-running LED bulb and stay well inside the maximum wattage marked on the lamp. Leave an air gap so the fabric never rests against a warm bulb, and let a bulb cool before handling it. Route the cable behind furniture where it is not a trip hazard and is out of reach of a child or pet. Stand the lamp level, dust with a dry cloth only, and never immerse it in water.
