The Larso softens a ceiling the way a lampshade softens a table lamp. A pleated fabric shade opens out in a lotus form beneath a turned canopy of walnut-toned wood, so the whole fitting reads as fabric and timber rather than metal and glass. It measures 40 cm across and sits only 13 cm below the ceiling line, which keeps it comfortably clear of head height.

Fabric is the reason to choose this one. Woven cloth diffuses light far more gently than an acrylic panel, and the fine pleating breaks the glow into narrow bands that carry a little way up onto the ceiling. The integrated LED runs at a warm white 3000K, a temperature that keeps skin tones and timber looking natural rather than blue, and it is rated for an average life of around 50,000 hours.

That shallow depth suits bedrooms, hallways and rooms with lower ceilings where a pendant would be in the way. The Larso can also be mounted flat against a wall, which makes it useful on a landing or beside a bed where there is no ceiling point to work with. The LED is integrated, so there is no bulb to change. The fitting is hardwired and should be installed by a qualified electrician.
