Lidded Stone-Effect Waste Bin

Bins are the last thing anyone chooses and the first thing you see in a small bathroom, which is an argument for spending a little more than the minimum. This one is a slim oval rather than a cylinder, so it tucks against a wall or beside a basin pedestal in a way a round bin cannot, and it carries a stone or timber pattern instead of the usual moulded grey plastic.

The fitted lid is the functional part. It sits down into the rim rather than resting on top, which contains smell reasonably well in a bathroom and keeps the contents out of sight in a bedroom or a home office. The opening is twenty-four centimetres across, wide enough to use without aiming, and the lid lifts clear entirely for emptying rather than hinging awkwardly.
