Lorwen Ruffled Petal Semi Flush Ceiling Light

The Lorwen gathers layers of white acrylic into a soft ruffled petal shade beneath a small brushed brass canopy. The folds are cut so that no two edges line up, which gives the shade movement and stops it reading as a plain dome. Warm shadows form where the petals overlap, adding depth to the ceiling immediately above the fitting.

At 30cm across and 24cm deep it holds close to the ceiling. The acrylic is opaque enough to hide the bulb and thin enough to glow across its whole surface, so the light spreads softly and without glare. One screw-fitting bulb sits inside the shade, and the bulb you choose sets the tone, from a warm evening white through to a brighter neutral. The canopy and the fixings are metal with a brass finish.

The shallow drop makes it a practical choice for a hallway, a landing or a bedroom where a hanging pendant would be in the way or catch the eye at head height. Fitting is a hardwired connection at the ceiling and a qualified electrician should carry out the work. Dust the acrylic with a dry soft cloth; the folds hold dust more readily than a flat shade, so going over them now and then keeps the glow even.
