LuxeShine Metal Crescent Wall Light

A crescent of metal, 15cm wide and 8cm high, curving away from the wall: the shape does most of the work here, and the black and gold finish does the rest. At around 1.5kg it has genuine weight in the hand, which is what separates a metal fitting from a pressed one. Two finish options are available, gold or black, so a pair either side of a bed or a mirror can match the rest of the ironmongery in the room.

The fitting is wired rather than plug-in, and it is LED compatible, so you can choose an appropriate lamp to suit the room. No bulb is supplied with it. Mounting hardware is included in the box, though the fixing itself should be chosen for the wall you are fitting into and rated to carry a 1.5kg fitting safely; a plasterboard wall needs a proper cavity fixing rather than a plain plug.

Because this is a hardwired fitting, installation is a job for a qualified electrician. The circuit must be isolated before any work begins, and the wall checked for pipes and cables before drilling. Scale is worth considering too: at 15cm across it works in multiples along a hallway or in a pair flanking a headboard, where a single small fitting on a large blank wall would look lost.
