Macaron Adjustable Desk Lamp 35cm

A pressed iron desk lamp in the soft, chalky colours that get called macaron - rose, yellow, green, grey, and the two neutrals. The head tilts on the arm so you can put the light on a page rather than into your eyes, which is the whole point of a desk lamp and something a surprising number of decorative ones fail to do.

At 35 centimetres tall on a 15 centimetre base it is the right height for a desk or a study table - tall enough to clear a laptop screen, short enough not to loom. It also works as a bedside lamp where you read, because the same tilt that puts light on a desk puts it on a book. The weighted base holds the lamp steady when the head is angled out over the edge.

The fitting is a standard E27 screw base, so the bulb is a normal shop purchase rather than a special order, and a bulb is not supplied. A 3 watt warm LED is plenty at this distance. The lamp ships with a UK-compatible plug, so it can go straight into a socket. The metal shade will get warm in use - let it cool before re-angling the head, and keep the lamp clear of curtains, paper and anything else that can catch.
