Metallic Glass Globe Ceiling Light

A twenty centimetre glass sphere with a metallic finish applied to the surface, hung on a chain that can be shortened or lengthened to suit the ceiling. The metallic coating means the globe reflects the room during the day and glows through in patches once the bulb is lit, which gives the fitting two quite different characters depending on the time of day.

Three finishes are offered. Rose gold is the warmest and softest, and works well in a bedroom or a hallway with warm-toned paint. Gold is brighter and more reflective, holding its own against a strong colour on the walls. Silver is the coolest and the most neutral, and sits happily in a kitchen or a bathroom landing where the other metalwork is chrome or stainless.

The chain is customisable at installation, so the same fitting can hang close to a low ceiling or drop properly in a stairwell. Hung in a group of three at staggered heights it makes a convincing and inexpensive alternative to a single large pendant fitting. The fitting is hardwired. Fit only to a ceiling point rated for the weight, and have the work carried out by a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated at the consumer unit first, as with any mains ceiling fitting.
