Mini Bud Vase Pair

Two small glass vases sold as a pair, each in a different tone so they read as a set rather than as a matched couple. Together they occupy 16 x 8 x 8.8cm, which is almost nothing on a windowsill or a shelf, and the point of buying two is that a pair of odd heights and colours arranges far more easily than one vase on its own.

Ten colour pairings are offered, from soft combinations such as rosa and lilac or olive and clear, through to stronger ones like blue and grey or brown and green. The glass is tinted through rather than coated, so the colour holds when light passes through it and deepens where the walls of the vase are thickest, which is what gives these their depth.

Each vase takes a single stem or a very small bundle: one ranunculus, a sprig of rosemary, a dried grass. Grouped in twos and threes along a shelf they make a quiet run rather than a centrepiece, which is usually the more useful thing to have. Rinse them by hand in warm water and dry with a soft cloth; they are too small and too thin-walled to survive a dishwasher cycle unchipped.
