Minimalist Wall Clock 30cm

This is a clock designed to be looked past as often as looked at, and that is a compliment. The face is a flat disc of MDF with no glass, no bezel and no numerals, just fine metal hands and small markers where the hours fall. Without a frame catching shadow it sits almost flush to the plaster, so the wall stays calm and the clock adds a shape rather than an object.

Five finishes cover most schemes. Wood is the warmest and works with oak floors and rattan. Tiffany blue and lilac are soft period colours that suit a bedroom or a nursery. White disappears into a pale wall until you look for it, and black gives you a strong graphic circle against a light background. At thirty centimetres across and four deep, it is large enough to read from across a room without dominating a small one.

The movement is a silent quartz sweep, so there is no tick to notice at night or during a call. A keyhole slot in the back means it hangs from one screw or picture hook and sits level without fuss. It runs on a single AA battery. Wipe with a dry cloth only, as MDF should not be soaked, and check for pipes and cables before drilling.
