Mirror Face LED Alarm Clock 14cm

The single most annoying thing about a digital bedside clock is the glow at three in the morning. This one solves it properly: an auto-dimming night mode drops the display brightness between six in the evening and six in the morning, and the brightness is separately adjustable on top of that. Outside those hours it is bright enough to read from across a room.

The face is mirrored, so when the display is off the clock reads as a small mirrored block 14cm wide and 5.5cm tall rather than as a gadget. It shows the time in twelve or twenty-four hour format and the room temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, and the alarm has a straightforward snooze. Everything is set from buttons on the top edge. The small footprint leaves room on a bedside table for a lamp and a book, which a larger projection clock does not.

It runs from three AAA batteries or a USB cable, neither of which is included, so it works on a shelf without a socket or stays permanently powered beside a bed. It is a clock and a thermometer: no medical, sleep or wellbeing function is claimed. Keep it away from water and wipe the mirrored face with a dry microfibre cloth.
