Monochrome Resin Fruit Ornaments

Sculptural fruit is one of the oldest decorating tricks there is, and it survives because it works: a single clean form on a table gives the eye somewhere to rest. These are cast in epoxy resin with a deep glossy finish, so they catch the light along their curves the way glazed ceramic does, and the shapes are simplified almost to the point of abstraction.

Four pieces are offered. The large black pear is the most dramatic and works alone on a coffee table or a stack of books. The low white pear is squatter and quieter. The white apple is the roundest of the group, and the white Yali pear is the tallest and most upright. Grouped in twos or threes at different heights they read as a still life; used singly they are simply a good-looking object.

The gloss finish is durable and easy to keep — a wipe with a soft damp cloth is enough, and it does not need the care that real ceramic glaze does. Resin gives each piece a reassuring weight, so they sit firmly and do not slide on a polished surface. They suit a console table, a dining table centre, a bookshelf or a kitchen worktop. These are decorative objects and not food-safe items: keep them out of reach of small children, who may mistake them for real fruit.
