Mulberry Silk Duvet Cover, 160x210cm

A duvet cover in pure 6A grade mulberry silk, measuring 160 by 210cm. The grade refers to the length and uniformity of the filament, and 6A is the top of the scale: it is what gives silk its even sheen and, more practically, what stops the fabric pulling and snagging within a few months of use the way lower grades do.

Silk regulates temperature in both directions, holding warmth on a cold night and shedding it on a warm one, which is why it suits anyone who finds themselves throwing off a duvet at three in the morning. It is also smooth enough not to draw moisture from skin or hair overnight. Four plain colours are offered: white, light blue, dark blue and grey.

A zip closure runs along the foot and internal corner ties hold the duvet square. This is a cover only, without pillowcases. Silk needs care: hand wash cool or use a machine silk cycle with a pH-neutral detergent, never biological powder, and dry flat away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not wring it out; press the water out between towels instead, and iron cool on the reverse only if a crease has set. Kept properly it will outlast several cotton covers, which is the argument for the initial care it asks for.
