Mushroom Plush Floor Cushion

A round cap, a stubby stalk and two small legs sticking out at the bottom - this cushion is unapologetically cheerful, and it works precisely because it does not try to be subtle. Dropped into the corner of a reading nook or at the foot of a sofa it gives a room a bit of warmth and humour, and it is comfortable enough that people actually sit on it rather than moving it aside.

The outer is a dense short-pile plush with a good weight to it, and the filling is a springy hollowfibre that compresses under you and then recovers rather than staying dented. Two sizes are available: large at around forty centimetres for a scatter or lap cushion, and extra large at around fifty for something closer to a proper floor cushion.

It is a soft furnishing rather than a toy. For a child's room, keep it out of a cot or a sleeping space and supervise very young children with any large plush item, as with all soft cushions. Spot clean the pile with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, then let it dry out fully before it goes back into use so that the hollowfibre filling never sits holding moisture.
