Musician Figure Resin Sculpture

Figurative sculpture usually goes one of two ways: stiff and formal, or so stylised it loses the person. This one lands between the two. The figure stands relaxed with her instrument, the drape of the dress carrying most of the movement, and the whole piece is hand-painted so the pattern work across the fabric changes direction as it falls. It reads as a small piece of art rather than as a mantel ornament.

Three instruments are offered - guitar, flute and drum - and they are designed to be collected. A single figure works as a punctuation mark at the end of a shelf. All three together, spaced along a console or a windowsill, make a far stronger group than any one alone, and the colours are chosen to sit comfortably beside each other.

Each figure is cast in resin at around 500 grams, heavy enough to feel substantial in the hand and to stand securely without a fixing. Because the painting is done by hand, small variations in pattern and tone are normal and are part of the character. Dust with a soft dry brush and keep the figure out of prolonged direct sunlight so the painted colours stay as vivid as the day it arrived.
