NordicTimber Square Wood Wall Clock

A square wall clock in solid wood, with the numerals cut clean through the face so the wall colour shows through them. That single detail is what separates it from a printed dial: the clock changes character depending on what it is hung against, reading graphic on white plaster and much softer on a painted colour. Two sizes are offered, 25cm and 30cm square.

The wood is finished in a mid brown that leaves the grain visible, or a pale cream that sits closer to a painted surface. Both use a quiet quartz movement running from a single AA battery, not supplied. The square format is useful in a hallway or above a run of shelving, where a round clock can look adrift in a rectangular space.

Solid timber responds to humidity, so an internal wall is a better place for it than a bathroom or the space directly above a radiator. Wipe with a dry cloth rather than a damp one. Check the wall for concealed pipes and cables before drilling, and level it carefully — a square clock shows a tilt far more obviously than a round one does, since the eye reads its top edge against the ceiling line without being asked to.
