Nydo Travertine Tilting Wall Light

The Nydo threads a drum of natural travertine onto a slim walnut beam, so the stone looks as though it is balanced across the timber rather than resting on top of it. The drum turns on the beam, which means the ring of light can be left square to the wall or tipped to one side once the fitting is up. At 23cm tall and 10cm wide it holds a wall without crowding a bedside table or a narrow hallway.

Travertine is a natural stone, so every shade carries a different pattern of open pores and fine banding, and the small holes across the surface are part of the material rather than a fault. An integrated LED sits inside the drum at a fixed warm white of 3000K, which lands as a soft pool of light on the wall below and a low glow through the open mouth of the shade. The LED is built into the fixture and cannot be swapped for a separate bulb.

Nydo works beside a bed, along a hallway or on a living room wall where a low, indirect light is wanted rather than a bright one. Because the drum tilts after fitting, it is worth mounting it first and then setting the angle with the light on, so the pool falls where you want it. Dust the travertine with a dry, soft brush and keep water and cleaning products away from it, since the open pores will take up liquid and mark.
