Odour-Sealing Bin with Legs, 15 Litre

Fifteen litres of capacity in a footprint under twenty centimetres deep, which is the whole argument for this bin. It stands forty-eight and a half centimetres tall on slim raised legs, so it fits in the gap beside a fridge, between a counter and a wall, or behind a bathroom door where a conventional round bin simply will not go. The legs also mean the floor underneath can be mopped without moving it.

The lid seals rather than resting loose. A sprung flip-top closes against the rim, which keeps kitchen smells inside between emptyings and stops a curious cat or a small child getting at the contents. It opens with a light push and closes under its own weight, so there is no pedal mechanism to seize up and nothing to stand on. The inner liner lifts out for washing.

Two colours are offered, a deep green and a paler sage-toned light green. Both are moulded plastic with a metallic trim around the lid, which lifts the look above a standard utility bin and lets it stand in a living room or a bedroom rather than being hidden in a cupboard. Wipe inside and out with warm soapy water. Standard 15 litre bin liners fit, and the raised rim holds the bag edge out of sight.
