Orbit Solar System Print Kids Rug

The Orbit prints the whole solar system across a deep midnight-teal ground. A golden sun sits half off one edge, its flame corona reaching into the dark, and from it nine fine white orbit arcs sweep the length of the rug. Mercury, Venus, the Moon, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto sit along those arcs with a comet above them, each one named in small white type set into the surface.

It is a teaching piece as much as a floor covering, and it reads as artwork rather than novelty. Machine made from 100% polyester in a flat, short pile, it keeps the illustration crisp underfoot and holds its colour against daylight. The pile is bonded to a polypropylene non-woven backing, and the edges are overlocked so the rectangle keeps its line rather than curling up at the corners.

At 80 x 120 cm it is sized for the foot of a single bed, a reading corner, a playroom or a landing. Young children should be supervised when they are playing on it, and the rug is best laid flat on a clean, dry floor so there is no edge to trip on. Vacuum on a low setting, blot spills promptly, and let the rug dry flat rather than over a radiator.
