Ovala Cream Irregular Oval Rug

Ovala takes the straight lines out of a room. Its outline is an irregular oval, a soft organic pebble shape that curves and pauses rather than turning corners, and the plain cream field at its centre is traced by a band of fine black lines that follow the silhouette outward. It is a quiet piece of geometry: enough drawing to hold a room together, not so much that it competes with what sits on top of it.

The rug is machine woven on a Wilton loom from 100% polyester, with a boned pile cut short and dense. Underfoot it reads as velvet rather than wool, smooth, matte and even, with a gentle sheen that shifts as the light moves across it through the day. The colour is a warm cream that sits comfortably against oak, plaster and linen rather than fighting them for attention.

The underside is finished with a rubber anti-slip backing, a pale non-woven layer printed with a dense grid of dots and small florets that grips hard floors without a separate underlay. That makes it a sensible choice on boards, tile or polished concrete in a living room, bedroom or study. Vacuum on a low setting without a beater bar, blot spills straight away rather than rubbing them, and let the rug dry flat.
