Oversized Acrylic Wall Clock

A large wall clock is one of the few pieces that can fill a big blank wall without the cost or commitment of art. This one is modular: a central quartz movement with separate acrylic numerals or markers that you position yourself, which means the finished diameter is set on the wall rather than in the box. It is the practical answer to a wall that no standard clock quite suits.

Four sizes are offered, from a modest forty centimetres up to a full hundred and thirty, so the same design works over a mantel, along a stairwell or across the back wall of an open-plan kitchen. Because the numerals are applied individually, a small paper template and a spirit level are all that is needed to get them square, and the spacing can be adjusted to suit the run of the wall.

Five finishes are available - black, gold, silver, red and a bright polished tone - each cut from acrylic with a clean mirrored or matt face depending on the colour. The movement is a standard battery quartz unit. Take your time marking out before fixing, because the applied numerals are considerably easier to place correctly the first time than to reposition afterwards.
