Palo Matt Black Recessed Outdoor Step Light

The Palo runs a low band of warm light along garden steps, decked pathways and courtyard walls. The fitting sits flush within the riser and casts light downwards, so the beam lands on the tread ahead rather than in the eyes of anyone climbing. The matte black powder-coated finish blends with rendered, stone, timber and brick surfaces, and the fitting stays close to invisible in daylight. It is infrastructure rather than a feature light.

Construction is durable metal with a frosted acrylic diffuser, which smooths the output into a glare-free band. It is rated IP65, fully protected against dust ingress and sustained water jets, which covers exposed positions including waterfall walls, seaside terraces and high-rainfall climates. Two sizes are available, 9cm and 13cm wide, to suit different step depths and wall coursing.

The fitting is hardwired and designed for recessed installation into step risers or retaining walls, so the aperture and the cable route need to be planned before the surface is finished. Spacing the lights evenly along a flight gives a more useful result than lighting only the top and the bottom. Professional installation by a qualified electrician is recommended. Rinse salt and grit from the face in coastal positions and check the seal stays sound.
