Perched Bird Brass Wall Light

Most sculptural wall lights lose the sculpture the moment they are switched on, because the source overwhelms the form. This one gets round that by putting the light behind and below a small perched bird figure, so the bird stays in silhouette against the glow rather than being washed out by it. Unlit, in daylight, it reads purely as a brass-finished ornament mounted on the wall.

The whole piece is thirty-eight centimetres tall and twenty-eight wide, which is substantial enough to hold a bare stretch of wall on its own without needing a pair or a group. The metal is finished in a warm brass tone with enough depth in it to avoid looking flat, and the branch and bird are modelled with real detail rather than reduced to a flat cut-out shape.

The LED is integrated and runs across a wide voltage range, so there is no bulb to buy and nothing to replace. It works best as a piece of accent lighting in a hallway, above a console table or beside a mirror, where the light is doing atmospheric work rather than lighting a whole room. Fit it to a wall point; it is hardwired rather than plug-in and is for dry indoor rooms.
