Petal Textured Glass Vases

Five small clear glass vases, each pressed with a petal texture that runs down the body and breaks the light into soft vertical bands. They are sold singly so you can build the group you want: the point of a range like this is that the shapes differ while the glass and the texture match, so three or five together look deliberate rather than collected by accident.

The wide vase is the squattest at nine centimetres tall with a broad six centimetre mouth, good for a short cut of blossom. The square vase and the high vase stand thirteen and fourteen and a half centimetres. The two tulip shapes are the tallest, at sixteen and fifteen and a half, and flare at the lip, which holds a single stem upright instead of letting it slump to one side.

All five are clear throughout with no paint or coating, so they show the water line and the stem below it, and the pressed texture hides the odd fingerprint better than plain glass. The openings are narrow, between four and a half and seven centimetres, so these are bud vases for one to three stems rather than a bunch. Wash them by hand and dry them upside down.

• Hand wash in warm water and dry upside down
• Safety: Small thin-walled glass: stand it back from the edge of a shelf or sill, and keep it off a surface that a door can swing against.
