Dozens of shaped timber scales are set in overlapping rings around a slim iron frame, so the shade reads as a pine cone caught mid-open rather than a plain drum. Light escapes between the layers as much as it falls from the bottom, which throws a soft pattern of overlapping shadows across a ceiling and the wall behind. Switched off it still holds its shape well enough to work as a sculptural object above a table.
The scales are cut and sanded from pine and finished by hand, then woven onto an iron armature that carries the weight and holds the profile. Two sizes are offered: a 38 cm shade suited to a hallway, a bedside corner or one end of a breakfast bar, and a 45 cm shade with enough presence to anchor a dining table or a stairwell. The suspension cable can be shortened at installation to set the drop you want.
A standard E27 lampholder takes the bulb of your choice, which is not included; a warm filament-style LED flatters the timber and keeps the shade cool. This is a hardwired ceiling fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated at the consumer unit. Keep the shade clear of curtains and away from steam, dust it with a dry brush, and stay within the wattage marked on the lampholder.
