Pleated Ceramic Table Lamp

The pleated shade is having a long moment, and this is a well-judged version of it: tight vertical folds that catch the light along every ridge, set on a plump glazed ceramic base with the kind of gentle shoulder that stops a lamp looking severe. Lit, the pleats break the glow into fine vertical bands; unlit, the shade still reads as texture rather than a plain drum, which is most of the reason to buy one.

Six base colours cover the range from quiet to committed - beige and khaki disappear politely into a bedroom, burgundy and blue give a console something to do - and three shade tones let you either match the base or contrast against it.
