Plush Velvet Blanket and Cushion Set

Mink velvet is the fabric that makes a sofa look occupied rather than staged. It has a dense, short pile with a slight sheen, and it drapes heavily enough to hold a fold instead of slipping onto the floor every time someone stands up. The reverse is a velvet fleece, so the blanket is soft on both faces and can be thrown either way up.

Four colours are offered. Grey and white are the two that will work with almost any sofa. Black is the one for a darker room and shows the pile most clearly. Pink is the warmest of the four. Each is a flat single colour, which is what lets the texture do the work — a patterned plush usually ends up looking busy.

Three configurations are available: a 80 x 120cm cover on its own, and two blanket sizes at 130 x 160cm and 160 x 200cm, each supplied with two matching 51 x 71cm cushion covers. The largest works as a bed throw across a double; the middle size suits a two-seater sofa. It is not electric and contains no wiring or heating elements. Machine wash on a gentle cycle and tumble dry on low; wash separately for the first cycle, as plush fabrics shed a little lint initially.
