Polished Marble Column Wall Light

Natural stone on a wall light is rare because the weight makes it awkward, and it is worth the trouble because no manufactured material behaves the same way under light. The column here is hand-polished marble in a black and deep coffee range, twenty-eight centimetres tall, and every piece carries its own veining. The LED sits within the column so the stone itself glows faintly at the edges rather than simply being lit from outside.

Two diameters are offered, six and eight centimetres, and they read quite differently on the wall. The slimmer one is closer to a vertical line and suits a corridor or a run of three along a hallway. The wider column has more presence and works better on its own beside a bed or a mirror, where the veining is close enough to be seen properly rather than just registering as dark stone.

Four light settings are available: cool white at the upper end of the range, a neutral white, a warm white for bedrooms and evening use, and a three-colour changeable option that switches between them. Output is twelve watts, which is plenty for accent lighting and not enough to light a room alone. The fitting is hardwired at mains voltage, is not dimmable, and is for dry indoor use.
