Pom Pom Round Cushion 50cm

A round cushion breaks up a row of squares on a sofa better than anything else, and this one earns its place twice over: the face is worked in a raised diamond texture and the whole circumference is trimmed with soft pom poms. It reads as handmade rather than mass-produced, and it gives a plain sofa or a made bed a point of interest without introducing a pattern that has to be matched to anything.

At fifty centimetres across it is large enough to lean against properly, not just look at, and the filling is cotton rather than a hard synthetic wadding, so it compresses and recovers rather than staying rigid. Seven colours are offered, most of them soft and dusty: white, beige and grey for a neutral scheme, pink, green and cyan for something gentler, orange when the room needs warming up.

It works on a sofa, an armchair, a window seat, the head of a bed or on the floor of a child's reading corner. Spot clean with a mild detergent and a damp cloth, working with the texture rather than against it, and let it dry naturally away from direct heat. Do not machine wash the whole cushion, as that will mat the pom pom trim permanently.
