A white ABS night light measuring 230 by 115 by 125 mm that throws a soft coloured arc across a wall or a ceiling. Six LEDs in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet sit behind a diffuser, and together they lay down a band of colour a metre or so wide at typical bedside range. Switched off it is a plain rounded shell that sits quietly on a shelf or a chest of drawers without drawing attention.
Two modes are offered. The first brings the whole arc up at once, and the second builds the colours in sequence so the band fills in gradually over several seconds, which is the more settling of the two at bedtime. A ten-minute automatic shut-off ends the display without anyone having to get up, so it can be started as a room is left and will turn itself off shortly afterwards on its own.
It takes four AAA batteries, which are not supplied, and has no mains lead, so there is no cable to route near a cot or a bed. Keep spare and spent batteries well away from children and pets, fit them the right way round, and take them out if the light will be stored unused. Site it on a stable surface where it cannot be pulled down, and clean the shell with a dry cloth only rather than a damp one.
