Recessed IP65 Step Light 85mm

A recessed step light that sits flush into the face of a stair riser, a low wall or a porch reveal, so the fitting itself disappears and only the light remains. At 85 by 85mm it is small enough to set into a single course of brick or a timber riser, and because it washes downwards it lights the tread without shining into the eyes of anyone coming up the steps. An installation box is supplied for setting into the opening.

Rated IP65, the housing is sealed against dust and against water jetted from any direction, which is what a fitting at ankle height on an exterior step needs. It is aluminium rather than plastic, so the body conducts heat away from the LED and the fixing points will not perish. Three watts is plenty for a step: the point is to define the edge of the tread, not to illuminate the garden.

Round and square faces are offered in white and black, each with warm white at 3000K or cool white at 6000K. Warm white is easier on the eye at night; cool white gives a crisper edge definition on grey stone. The input is AC 100 to 240V, so it runs directly on UK mains. It needs an external switch, which is not included, and it is a hardwired fitting requiring a recessed opening cut to size.
